India's wealthy are increasingly creating family offices to preserve legacy, compound riches and fund philanthropic passions. More importantly, these institutions are emerging as a reliable source of domestic capital with their bets on the next generation of businesses. Numbers show the rising prominence, from 45 in 2018 to around 400 now. Interactions with those from legacy business houses and first-generation wealthy throw light on different investment strategies of their family offices.
