The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises has launched an initiative of Trade Enablement and Marketing (TEAM) has tied up with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) to onboard 5 lakh MSMEs to the government-backed network.
A budget of Rs 277 crore has been created for the initiative. At least half of the 5 lakh MSMEs selected for the scheme will be women-led.
“The MSME TEAM Initiative is more than just a program — it’s an opportunity to empower small businesses with the tools and resources they need to thrive in the digital age. By connecting SMEs to the ONDC Network, we are creating a level playing field that enables them to scale, compete, and succeed. Most importantly, this is now the right time for Indian startups to leverage ONDC to tap into the immense potential of India’s MSME ecosystem,” said T. Koshy, MD & CEO of ONDC.
TEAM initiative is a sub-scheme under Raising Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) program which aims to help the women owned MSMEs functioning in tier 2 and tier 3 cities.
As India has become the hub of millions of MSMEs in different sectors, this initiative will provide them financial and technical assistance.
TEAM promises the MSMEs to help them in providing logistics, account management, packaging material, designing, catalogue preparation, etc.
The TEAM Initiative also aims to connect MSMEs to the ONDC Network, opening up opportunities for small businesses to engage in a more inclusive and equitable digital ecosystem.
This presents a great opportunity for startups and technology enablers in India to tap into the ONDC Network and develop unique value propositions for the country’s expansive MSME
As India is already striving to strengthen its MSME sector through a number of initiatives like Startup India, PM Vishwakarma and the Digital MSME scheme, This TEAM program will add stars into it.
