Maran graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Commerce from Stella Maris College, Chennai, followed by an MBA from the prestigious Warwick Business School. After finishing higher education, the 33-year-old businesswoman joined the family business.

The 33-year-old Maran is the granddaughter of Indian politician, Murasoli Maran, who was associated with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). She is the niece of Dayanidhi Maran, a four-time member of parliament from Chennai Central. Her family shares ties with former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.
