Stock Market Holidays 2025: Check Out the Entire Holiday Calendar by NSE, BSE

The exchanges pointed out that certain holidays coincide with weekends in 2025, including Republic Day on January 26, Ram Navami on April 6, Muharram on July 6 and Bakri Id on June 7

Indian stock exchanges, including the Bombay stock exchange (BSE) and the national stock exchange (NSE) have come out with the trading holiday schedule for the upcoming year. The schedule mentions 14 non-trading holidays spread out in 2025. 

“In pursuance to clause 2 of Chapter IX of the Bye-Laws and Regulations 2.3.1 of part A Regulations of the Capital Market Segment, the Exchange hereby notifies trading holidays for the calendar year 2025,” said NSE in a note on December 13. 

The first one being on February 26 for Mahashivratri, followed by Holi on March 14 and Id-Ul-Fitr on March 31. April will have three trading holidays, including Mahavir Jayanti on April 10, Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14 and Good Friday on April 18. 

The market will be closed on May 1 as it is celebrated as Maharashtra Day. The exchanges will be down on August 15 on account of Independence Day and then on 27th of the same month for Ganesh Chaturthi.

In the month of October, the markets will observe holidays on three days, including Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra on the 2nd, Diwali Laxmi Pujan on the 21st and Diwali Balipratipada on the 22nd. 

Although the notice released by the exchanges didn’t specifically mention the time, the note did mention it will observe Muhurat Trading on October 21st. 

The markets will be closed for one day each in the month of November and December on account of Guru Nanak Dev Jayanti on November 5 and Christmas on December 25. 

The notice has been released by the exchanges so that investors and traders can plan accordingly. Additionally, the note pointed out that certain holidays coincide with weekends in the upcoming year, including Republic Day on January 26, Ram Navami on April 6, Muharram on July 6 and Bakri Id on June 7.
