Quick commerce platform Swiggy Instamart will soon be launched as a separate app for users. Swiggy Instamart, has also expanded to 76 cities in India, the company said in a statement.
The company claims that through this, users will have a more direct experience, offering greater convenience by ensuring quicker access to Swiggy’s pioneering quick-commerce service.
This comes at a time when the company has been increasing its focus on standalone apps. Recently, Swiggy launched Snaac, an app that focuses on 10 minute food delivery.
Additionally, in October this year, the company launched Bolt which again focusses on delivering food items in 10 to 15 minutes. The difference between Bolt and Snaac is that the former sells food items via resturants. While Snaac offers ready-to-eat fast food, prepared meals, and beverages directly from the service itself, rather than from external restaurants.
"The standalone app will be an add-on, augmenting our reach by meeting consumers where they are, and ensuring we continue delivering the best possible experience in the category," said Sriharsha Majety, MD & Group CEO, Swiggy in a release.
Echoing similar sentiment, Amitesh Jha, CEO of Swiggy Instamart said in a statement, "the launch of the Instamart app ensures seamless adoption and access to the service in a category that we believe we have only scratched the surface of."
This comes at a time when a separate app strategy is being followed by Swiggy's competitor Zomato as well. For example, for its dining out business, Zomato came up with a separate app called District in August this year. Additionally, Zomato's Blinkit launched a separate food delivery platform Bistro.
Along with integrating three main businesses—food delivery, quick commerce and dining out—into one platform, the company is now experimenting with standalone apps for specific services.
