Bhartiya Kisan Parishad, farmer organisation is set to begin its protest on Monday to demand compensation and benefits under the new farm laws. The farmers will march from Noida to the Parliament complex in Delhi, where the winter session is presently going on.

“We are ready for our march towards Delhi. Tomorrow, on December 2, we will start our march towards Delhi from under the Maha Maya flyover. At noon, all of us will reach there and demand our compensation and benefits as per the new laws,” farmer leader Sukhbir Khalifa told ANI.

Other farmer organisations like the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) and the Samyukt Kisan Morcha have also announced foot march towards the national capital starting from December 6. Their demands include legally guaranteed minimum support price (MSP), a farm loan waiver, a pension for farmers and farm labourers, no hike in the electricity tariff, withdrawal of police cases and reinstatement of the Land Acquisition Act and compensation to the families of the farmers who lost their lives during the 2020-21 protest.

The KMM leader, Sarwan Singh Pandher, critisised the central government for halting dialogue with the farmers after February 18.

“They have stopped the talks with us...Contract farming is not acceptable to us. We are demanding a legal guarantee on the MSP for crops,” Pandher told PTI.

Meanwhile, Noida authorities have already issued a warning advisory regarding possible congestion on key routes, including all goods vehicles that will be prohibited from entering Delhi from ways like the Yamuna Expressway, Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and Surajpur. The Delhi-NCR police have also issued security measures.
