Google is enhancing its productivity-focused Chromebook Plus lineup with several AI capabilities, including a screen selection tool for search and text capture, a "Simplify" tool for explaining complex language, and NotebookLM.
The screen selection tool operates similarly to Google Lens and Chrome's "Circle to search" feature on smartphones. Users can long-press the launcher button or use the snapshot tool to select content on the screen, prompting an instant Google search. This tool also allows users to select text and quickly add events to their calendar.
In 2024, Google introduced a "Quick Insert" key on select Chromebook Plus models to launch shortcuts. This key now supports Google's AI-powered image generation functions and writing tools.
The new "Simplify" tool leverages AI to explain, simplify, or summarize selected text, enhancing user comprehension.

This plan includes access to the Gemini app, the video editing tool Flow, the image-to-video tool Whisk, Gemini integration in Gmail, Docs, and Chrome, and 2TB of cloud storage.
Exclusively for the Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14, Google is introducing two AI features: one recommends tab and document organization, and the other enables photo editing in the Gallery app, allowing users to remove backgrounds or create stickers.
The Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14 is available in two configurations: a 12GB RAM model priced at $649 and a 16GB RAM model with a fingerprint scanner for $749.
