The recent episode of India’s Got Latent show has raised questions on the content quality of Indian comedy shows, with hundreds of citizens on LocalCircles believing that the content was propagated via various platforms. Their key concern was not just creating content but also subjecting children and teenagers to such “perverted” thinking.

The survey revealed that 22% Indian families surveyed have children under the age of 13 years who have accounts on audio or video streaming platforms. Hence, this has raised concerns among them and called for a code of conduct or regulations to use such content on the internet.

As per the data, 59% consumers said that the audio/video platforms don’t clearly segregate explicit or adult content, so children don’t get subjected to it. They stated that many children and teenagers are now exposed to the comedy shows with content filled profanity and incest available on platforms like Instagram, YoutTube, etc.

India’s Got Latent Controversy

It’s not the first time that the standup comedian Samay Raina-led show India’s Got Latent is being criticised. Even critics have been saying that the show has got vulgar with each episode since its launch in June 2024. The judges, including Samay Raina, YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija, and Ashish Chanchlani, among others, have been vocal about their obnoxious views in the name of roasting, banter, and comedy.

They have also been accused of using derogatory language in the guise of comedy during the show aired on television. In one such recent episode which has become enraged social media users, one of the judges passed comments on differently abled people.

“Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?” said Allahbadia aka BeerBiceps guy during a performance.

The comment created a huge outrage on social media, after which the judge apologized for his remarks. “My comment wasn’t just inappropriate, it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I’m just here to say sorry. Many of you asked if this is how I wish to use my platform and, obviously, this is not how I wish to use it,” he said.

The apology didn’t stop the criticism coming his way. An FIR has also been filed against the BeerBicep guy.
