Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has said his government has started brainstorming for the Goa Artificial Intelligence Mission 2027, which will be in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's India AI Mission.

The Goa AI Council will be announced soon, which will comprise government representatives and industry stakeholders to chalk out the mission, Sawant told reporters on Monday evening.

The mission's aim would be to include AI in government services through introductions like Chatbot on WhatsApp, inclusion of AI in the curriculum at the school level and also in the Goa StartUp Policy and the Goa Information Technology Policy, he said.

Both the policies have already been implemented in the state.

Besides AI, innovation and cyber security will also be part of these policies which will govern the Information Technology sphere in the state, Sawant said.

On Monday, several industry stakeholders and government authorities met under the leadership of CM Sawant near Panaji to chalk out a roadmap for the state in IT sector.

"The roadmap has already been decided, you will start seeing results in the next six months," the chief minister said.

"Goa is always known as a tourism state, but in future, we want the coastal state also to be known for its Start-Ups and Artificial Intelligence technology adoption," he said.

IT Minister Rohan Khaunte said Goa has always been known for its creativity.

The coastal state wants to graduate to the next step where Start-Ups get opportunities to scale up, he said.

"While we are already working to make Goa the country's design capital, we are also talking about Goa playing a major role in contributing to the National Mission for AI," he said.

"The PM has already announced the AI mission. Goa wants to be the first state to be ready for the AI-era," Khaunte added.

The new AI mission will aim to also ensure stoppage of brain drain from the state, he said.

"All 100% students passing out from colleges should get employment. This is possible through the AI mission," he said.
