Soham Parekh, an Indian developer, is at the centre of a US tech controversy after Suhail Doshi accused him of moonlighting across multiple startups and scamming employers. The claims have shaken several early-stage firms.
The issue first came to light when Suhail Doshi, co-founder and former CEO of Mixpanel, revealed that Soham Parekh was scamming startups by secretly working multiple jobs at once under false pretences. That’s what triggered the storm.
Doshi wrote on Twitter at first: There’s a guy named Soham Parekh (in India) who works at 3-4 startups at the same time. He’s been preying on YC companies and more. Beware,” Doshi wrote. “I fired this guy in his first week and told him to stop lying/scamming people. He hasn’t stopped a year later. No more excuses.”
Suhail Doshi said Parekh’s resume, which mentioned degrees from Mumbai University and Georgia Tech, was “probably 90% fake.” He tried talking to Parekh about the consequences, but after checking with six other companies, he decided to go public with the scam.
After Doshi’s post, other founders joined in. Nicolai Ouporov, co-founder and CEO of Fleet AI said Parekh had been doing this for years—working at over four startups at once. The pattern of deception shocked many in the tech world.
Justin Harvey, co-founder of AIVideo, shared, “I was THIS close to hiring him. The craziest part is he actually crushed the interview.” Another startup founder, Adish Jain, confirmed, “Can confirm. This guy wasted our time for a month. did great in interviews. but he’s a liar.”
Matthew Parkhurst, CEO of Antimetal, said “Soham was our first engineering hire in 2022. Really smart and likable... We realized pretty quickly that he was working at multiple companies and let him go.”
Adish Jain, founder of San Francisco-based Mosaic, also confirmed Doshi’s account. He stated , Parekh did “great” in interviews, but "he's a liar".
Parekh was hired on a trial basis, but the engagement was cancelled once the allegations came to light. Michelle Lim, Product Head at Warp, later confirmed their brief involvement with him.
