The ability of quantum technology to solve the most complex challenges in seconds signifies that the future will no longer be limited to digital, quantum is the future, said Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia on Thursday.

“The future is no longer just digital, the future is quantum. And the ripple effects of quantum computing are already beginning to influence not only scientific discovery but also our everyday lives, said Scindia.

He also mentioned that in a hyper-connected world where information is power, quantum technology will drive a revolution across key sectors, particularly computing, communication, and national security.

“This quantum technology is a double-edged sword. In a hyper-connected world, information is power—and it is our responsibility to safeguard that information, whether individual, institutional, or national,” he added.

Giving an instance, Scindia highlighted that quantum algorithms have unlocked processes that can work on risk modeling, fraud detection, portfolio optimization, and have simply turned the concept of volatility into opportunity.

“Even our cities will benefit from this new technology. When you look at route optimization through quantum computing, the results are huge across multiple spectrums,”he said.

Scindia highlighted that quantum computers are not just faster, they can crack challenges that were originally thought insolvable. And quantum computing isn't just another step forward. It is a giant leap that will define innovation, accelerate scientific discovery, and unlock multiple solutions to human problems that were hitherto always thought of as insurmountable.

He was speaking at the 3rd edition of International Quantum Conclave in New Delhi, where he was joined by Dr Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications, Government of India, Neeraj Mittal, Secretary, Department of Telecommunication, Dr. Ajay Sood, Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India and Tripti Saxena, DDG & Head TEC.

The Union Minister of Communications also highlighted the transformative potential of combining quantum technology with other cutting-edge technologies like AI, emphasizing its power to drastically reshape the future of humankind.

“As we continue down this path, we also venture into quantum machine learning, where the application of AI uncovers deep insights from massive data sets. Through quantum technology, this will fuel breakthroughs in genomics, language processing, personalised medicine, and financial forecasting,” he added.
