Cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has sent shock waves to his fans as he bids adieu to international cricket from all formats. The 38-year-old bowler announced his retirement in a press conference on Wednesday, ending a nearly 14-year-long international cricket career. Speaking at the press meet after the Brisbane test match ended, Ashwin said he still has energy in him to play and is likely to utilise that in domestic matches.
“This will be my last day as an Indian cricketer in all formats at the international level...I had a lot of fun,” said Ashwin in a press conference. “I do feel there is a bit of punch left in me as a cricketer, but I would like to expose that probably...showcase that in clubs that are in cricket...,” he added.
Ashwin’s cricket journey kicked off after he gained recognition during his tenure with the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Consequently, he was selected to play for the national team.
