Just hours after agreeing to a ceasefire with India, Pakistan launched another series of attacks, violating the ceasefire agreement. The Indian armed forces are currently giving an "adequate and appropriate" response to these violations.

"In the last few hours, there have been repeated violations of the understanding arrived at earlier this evening between the directors general of military operations of India and Pakistan. This is a breach of the understanding arrived at earlier today," said Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri during a recent media briefing.

On Saturday evening, US President Trump announced on social media that Pakistan and India had agreed to a ceasefire. Officials from both countries also formally confirmed the de-escalation to ease border tensions. However, within hours, Pakistan breached the agreement, launching a drone and missile attack. As per reports, loud explosions were heard in Srinagar.

The armed forces are giving an adequate and appropriate response to these violations, and we take very, very serious notice of these violations, he added. "We call upon Pakistan to take appropriate steps to address these violations and deal with the situation with seriousness and responsibility the armed forces are maintaining a strong vigil on the situation. They have been given instructions to deal strongly with any instances of repetition of the violations of the borders along the international border as well as the Line of Control," Misri stated during the briefing.

Keeping in view the situation, the Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan held a video conference with chief secretaries of the states which share border with Pakistan, on Saturday.

As per sources cited in a report by PTI, the home secretary has instructed them to stay vigilant and "activate the civil defence mechanism in their respective states in case of any firing or attack from across the border."
