India-Pakistan Ceasefire Highlights: 'War Is Not India's Choice', Ajit Doval Speaks to Chinese FM Wang Yi

An officer of the J&K Administration Services died after he got hit by Pakistan’s shelling. “Just yesterday he was accompanying the Deputy CM around the district and attended the online meeting I chaired. Today the residence of the officer was hit by Pak shelling as they targeted Rajouri town killing our Additional District Development Commissioner Raj Kumar Thappa,” Omar Abdullah said in a post on social media platform X.

J&K CM Omar Abdullah slammed IMF for sanctioning loan to Pakistan, saying the country is using the money for devastating places.

"I’m not sure how the “International Community” thinks the current tension in the subcontinent will be de-escalated when the IMF essentially reimburses Pakistan for all the ordnance it is using to devastate Poonch, Rajouri, Uri, Tangdhar & so many other places," his post on X read.

A joint briefing by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Defence is scheduled to be held at 10:30 am today, ANI reported.

The Maharashtra government has asked fishermen operating off the Palghar coast in order to help safeguard India’s maritime border amid the ongoing conflict with Pakistan, PTI reported.

The advisory followed a meeting with senior Indian Navy officials focused on strengthening coastal surveillance. Authorities are also working to equip most fishing boats with transponders for location tracking.

Pakistan opened fire on BSF posts in Jammu sector late Friday, BSF Jammu said in a post on social media platform X. "On 09 May 2025, from about 2100 hrs, Pakistan opened fire on BSF posts in Jammu sector without any provocation," the post said.

"BSF is responding in commensurate manner causing widespread damage to posts and assets of Pakistan Rangers along the International Boundary. Our resolve to protect India's sovereignty is unshaken."

Multiple enemy drones were spotted over Khasa Cantt in Amritsar at 5 AM today, an Indian Army's post on X read. However, the hostile drones were instantly engaged and destroyed by the air defence units.

"Pakistan’s blatant attempt to violate India’s sovereignty and endanger civilians is unacceptable. Indian Army will thwart enemy designs," the post read.

The Odisha government has cancelled all sanctioned leaves for RDCS, Collectors, and DMS amid "the ongoing war-like situation", ANI said in a post on X. "No further leave will be granted during this period," the Odisha government's order read.

All three service chiefs have reached the Defence Ministry and are expected to meet defence minister Rajnath Singh, following Pakistan's continued unprovoked attacks on civilian areas overnight, India Today reported. A similar meeting was also held with the defence minister on Friday.

A Pakistani-armed drone has been brought down successfully by the Indian Army using the L-70 air defence guns in the Kutch, Gujarat, ANI reported citing defence officials.

The government dismissed the claims circulating on social media that India had launched a drone attack on the Nankana Sahib gurdwara in Pakistan. The video making this allegation is "completely fake" and is being shared to incite communal discord within India, PIB Fact Check Unit said.

Nankana Sahib is a sacred site for the Sikh community.

"The war has already begun. Is it a full-scale war? No, as a full-scale war involves ground troops and tankers...," former ambassador to Qatar KP Fabian told ANI. "The leadership in Pakistan, both at the levels of civilian government and army, is insecure, and an insecure leadership doesn't act rationally."

The Indian forces completely destroyed terrorist launchpad at Looni in Pakistan's Sialkot in response to unprovoked firing, says BSF, as per PTI report.

Pakistan PM Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday called an emergency meeting of the National Command Authority, the the top decision-making body on nuclear warheads, Reuters reported.

Pakistani actions have constituted provocations and escalations, Foreign Secretary said in the press briefing today. Pakistan tried attacking 26 sites in India. However, Indian forces successfully thwarted most of these attacks, Col. Sofiya Qureshi said.

Pakistan military also tried to destroy Punjab-based airbases by a high-speed missile after 0140 IST, Col. Qureshi said.

"Pakistan Army has been observed to be moving its troops towards forward areas, indicating an offensive intent to further escalate the situation," Wing Commander Vyomika Singh said. "Indian armed forces remain in a high state of operational readiness..."

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri took a jibe at Pakistan saying, "It may be a surprise to Pakistan to see the citizens criticising their own government, as that is a hallmark of open and functional democracy. Pakistan's unfamiliarity with that shouldn't be surprising."

"We have also seen in some of the remarks that the Pakistani army spokesman seems to take great joy at the fact that the Indian public should criticise the government of India with various issues," he said.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri dismissed the claims that Indian missiles had hit Afghanistan, calling the allegations ludicrous.

He hinted at the real perpetrators behind such attacks by saying, "I only want to point out that Afghan people don't need to be reminded about which country it is that has on multiple occasions in just the last one and a half years targeted civilian populations and civilian infrastructure in Afghanistan"

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar and urged that both sides need to identify ways to reduce tensions and re-establish direct communication to avoid miscalculation. He further proposed US support in facilitating productive discussions to help avoid future disputes.

Col. Sofiya Qureshi said that Pakistan took the cover of civilian aircraft taking off from Lahore to hide their activities. "Such tactics compelled Indian air defence system to act with great patience while ensuring civilian security," she added

Pakistan defence minister Khawaja Asif said no meeting of the National Command Authority had been scheduled, Reuters reported. This comes after an earlier report by Reuters that stated that the Pakistani PM had called for a meeting of the body that oversees the country’s nuclear arsenal.

Separately, Pakistan's foreign minister told local TV that if India stops here then "we will consider to stop here", according to the Reuters report.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. Rubio urged to de-esclate the current situation and re-establish direct communication with India.

Rubio has also spoken to the Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir.

India launched a coordinated assault, destroying terrorist launchpads near the LoC that were used to plan attacks on India, the Indian Army said in a post on social media platform X. This was done in response to Pakistan's misadventures of attempted drone strikes on the night of May 8 and 9 in multiple cities of Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab.

"The Indian Army's swift and decisive action has dealt a significant blow to terrorist infrastructure and capabilities."

“Yesterday what Pakistan did actually conveys a very clear signal to all of us and to the rest of the world that they actually stand with the terrorist, not with the rest of the civilised world,” Vinay Mohan Kwatra, Indian Ambassador to US, said while speaking to CBS News' Shanelle Kaul.

A large number of youths gathered in Chandigarh after a local announcement sought civil defence volunteers, showcasing an exceptional display of unity and nationalism amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, ANI reported.

Barmer district administration has been placed on high alert following continuous attacks from Pakistan and the discovery of unidentified missile debris in Barmer's Gida Pareu area, ANI reported.

Authorities are awaiting assessment by authorised agencies, and locals have been restricted from approaching the debris.

The Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority has suspended Char Dham Yatra helicopter service with immediate effect in Uttarakhand, ANI said in a post on X. Helicopter services will only be provided for evacuating pilgrims from the Char Dham Yatra sites.

India should embrace its leadership role in the subcontinent and take the first step to de-escalate the tensions and not rely on inconsistent international support, PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti said in a post on X.

She cited remarks by US Vice President JD Vance, who said that America wouldn’t intervene beyond a certain point in the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. But "...now in light of the worrying intensity of the situation", US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has urged for de-escalation, she said.

"The world is watching us. This is the moment for India to stand tall and demonstrate that its true strength lies in its soft power and commitment to peace not in nukes," she added.

Uttarakhand government said that the helicopter service for the Char Dham Yatra has resumed and is running smoothly, ANI reported. It was closed for some time due to bad weather.

Details of the terrorists killed in the Indian airstrikes on May 7 in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, as per reports by PTI and ANI:

1. Mudassar Khadian Khas alias Mudassar alias Abu Jundal

He was affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba. He received a guard of honour at his funeral by the Pakistan Army and his funeral prayer was held in a government school, led by Hafiz Abdul Rauf of JuD (a designated global terrorist). A serving Lt. General of the Pakistan Army attended the prayer ceremony.

2. Hafiz Muhammed Jameel

He was affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammed and he is the eldest brother-in-law of Maulana Masood Azhar. He was actively involved in radical indoctrination of youth and fundraising for JeM.

3. Mohammad Yusuf Azhar alias Ustad Ji alias Mohd Salim alias Ghosi Sahab

He was also a member of JeM and a brother-in-law of Maulana Masood Azhar. Azhar handled weapons training for JeM. He was involved in multiple terrorist attacks in Jammu & Kashmir and was wanted in the IC-814 hijacking case.

4. Khalid alias Abu Akasha

He was affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba and was involved in multiple terrorist attacks in Jammu & Kashmir. He was engaged in weapons smuggling from Afghanistan. His funeral was also attended by senior Pakistani Army officials and the Deputy Commissioner of Faisalabad.

5. Mohammad Hassan Khan

His affiliation was with JeM. He was the son of Mufti Asghar Khan Kashmiri, operational commander of JeM in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Hassan Khan played a key role in coordinating terrorist attacks in Jammu & Kashmir.

The Director General of Bureau of Civil Aviation Security has temporarily extended the role of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) as the Aviation Security Group (ASG) to provide additional security cover to Cargo operations and the In-line Hold Baggage Screening System.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff and chiefs of the Indian Armed Forces at his residence in New Delhi.

The Jammu and Kashmir government has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to families of those deceased in the recent shelling from Pakistan.

"Deeply pained by the loss of innocent lives due to recent shelling from Pakistan. My Government is taking every possible measure to minimise the hardship of our people," posted Office of Chief Minister, J&K on the social media platform X.

"While no compensation can ever replace a loved one or heal the trauma caused to the family, as a gesture of support and solidarity, ex-gratia relief of Rs 10 lakh will be provided to families of all who have deceased."

The government has issued an advisory to media channels asking to refrain from using Civil Defence Air Raid Sirens sounds in their programs other than community awareness drives, All India Radio News said in a post on social media platform X.

"Pakistan conveniently forgets that there are more than 230 million Muslims living in India and our forefathers rejected the two-country theory. We despise, we rejected the two-nation theory proposed by Jinnah, and we accepted India as our country and will continue to stay here. Pakistan wants to divide India on the lines of religion, it wants to create more friction between Indian Muslims, Hindus and other communities over here," AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi told ANI.

"It is the deep state of Pakistan, which only uses Islam as a facade to cover up all illegal activities and their promotion of terrorism. This is what they have been doing for the last 75 years against India," he added.

Ixigo has suspended flight and hotel bookings for Turkey, Azerbaijan and China. The online booking platform's recent move comes after Azerbaijan and Turkey showed their support for Pakistan in the recent cross-border rift with India.

The Defence Ministry has urged citizens to stay cautious of fake news and misinformation spreading in the digital space.

"In these sensitive times, a lot of misinformation and fake news is being spread on #WhatsApp. Be cautious and follow our WhatsApp Channel for all authentic information related to Ministry of Defence," GoI stated in a social media post.

“We have carried out a response to that [Pahalgam] terror attack and we are clear in so far as our response to terrorism is concerned, that part was closed at that time,” said Vinay Mohan Kwatra, ambassador of India to the US.

Addressing the recent escalation following the Pahalgam terror attack, Kwatra stated that India had completed its measured response with Operation Sindoor on May 7 and does not wish to escalate further, as per a report by CBS News.

Jammu: Loitering munition fired by Pakistan was destroyed by the bomb disposal squad of security forces and NSG (National Security Guard). This drone was found in a village near Jammu, ANI reported

"The government of India has announced that around 32 airports will remain closed till 5:30 AM on 15 May for safety reasons... This is as per the latest news from the Ministry of Civil Aviation," Airport Director and General Manager of Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport in Leh, Umasankar told ANI.

Afghanistan has reportedly rejected Pakistan’s allegations of missile strikes by India on Afghan territory. Inayatullah Khawarizmi, Spokesman in the Afghan Ministry of Defence, even said that there is no truth to such claims.

"The entire country is united and stands with our armed forces, and every person is prepared for any eventuality," Delhi CM Rekha Gupta told PTI.

"After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE," Trump said in a recent social media post.

"Pakistan and India have agreed to a ceasefire with immediate effect. Pakistan has always strived for peace and security in the region, without compromising on its sovereignty and territorial integrity!" Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar shared on X.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Vice President JD Vance and him have engaged with senior Indian and Pakistani officials over the last 48 hours. It included Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Shehbaz Sharif, External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir and National Security Advisors Ajit Doval and Asim Malik.

"I am pleased to announce the Governments of India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire and to start talks on a broad set of issues at a neutral site," Rubio stated.

"We commend Prime Ministers Modi and Sharif on their wisdom, prudence, and statesmanship in choosing the path of peace," he added.

India yet to make an officila statement on the same.

"Pakistan's Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) called Indian DGMO at 15:35 hours earlier this afternoon. It was agreed between them that both sides would stop all firing and military action on land and in the air and sea with effect from 1700 hours Indian Standard Time. Today, instructions have been given on both sides to give effect to this understanding. The Directors General of Military Operations will talk again on the 12th of May at 1200 hours," says Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri addressing media this evening.

"India and Pakistan have today worked out an understanding on stoppage of firing and military action. India has consistently maintained a firm and uncompromising stance against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. It will continue to do so," says S Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister.

Commodore Raghu R Nair, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Colonel Sofia Qureshi hold press conference after India-Pakistan ceasefire agreement announced on Saturday evening.

Commodore Ravi Nair confirmed that India’s armed forces have been ordered to stand down following a mutual understanding to halt all military activities across land, sea, and air. He cited the foreign secretary’s statement, noting that the Army, Air Force, and Navy are all expected to comply with this de-escalation agreement.

Colonel Sofiya Qureshi dismissed Pakistan’s claims of inflicting damage on Indian military assets as entirely baseless. She clarified that there was no damage to India’s S-400 or BrahMos bases, nor to airfields in Sirsa, Jammu, Pathankot, Bhatinda, Nalia, or Bhuj as alleged.

"Thirdly, according to Pakistan's misinformation campaign, our ammunition depot in Chandigarh and Vyas was damaged, which is also completely wrong. Pakistan made false allegations that Indian Army damaged mosques. I want to make it very clear that India is a secular nation and our army is a very beautiful reflection of the constitutional value of India," she adds.

Nair affirmed that while India’s armed forces will respect the current understanding to halt military operations, they remain fully alert and combat-ready. He emphasized that India is committed to protecting its sovereignty and any provocation from Pakistan will be met with firm retaliation.

"Every misadventure by Pakistan has been met with strength. Every future escalation will invite a decisive response. We remain fully operationally ready to launch whatever operations may be required in defence of the nation," he underlines.

PTI reported that Pakistan announced opening of its airspace for all kinds of traffic, shortly after the truce deal with India.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on Saturday welcomed “all efforts to de-escalate the conflict”, as India and Pakistan agreed to an immediate ceasefire.

“We are monitoring but we welcome all efforts to de-escalate the conflict,” Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesperson for the Secretary-General, told PTI.

During the press conference, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh stated that key Pakistani air bases at Skardu, Jacobabad, and Bholari have suffered significant damage. She added that the destruction of Pakistan’s air defence systems and radar infrastructure has severely compromised its ability to protect its airspace.

Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah said if the ceasefire had been announced 2-3 days back, lives of people could have been saved. The state government will continue to inspect the situation and provide relief to those affected, he added.

“I welcome the ceasefire. If it had happened 2-3 days ago, the lives we lost would not have been lost. Pakistan’s DGMO called our DGMO and the ceasefire was implemented. It is the responsibility of the current J&K government to assess wherever the damage has been done and start providing relief to the people,” J&K CM told PTI.

"So many people died and properties were damaged, at such a time, this has happened. People will sleep peacefully today after so many days. Military solution is not a solution, political intervention is always needed...we shouldn't have needed a mediator, our country should become a big brother of all countries and solve issues," said PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti.

India and Pakistan reached an understanding after Pakistan initiated contact, MEA officials told ANI. There are no preconditions or post-conditions, and the Indus Water Treaty remains in abeyance, with all other measures suspended. India’s stance on terrorism remains unchanged, it added.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor welcomed the India-Pakistan ceasefire agreement, asserting that India never aimed for a prolonged conflict. The Chairman of the Committee on External Affairs stated that India’s goal was to send a strong message to terrorists, and "that lesson has been taught."

 “Peace is essential…I am very glad. India never wanted a long-term war. India wanted war to teach terrorists a lesson, and that lesson has been taught,” he said.

National Conference president Farooq Abdullah welcomed the India-Pakistan ceasefire, stating that the primary responsibility to bridge the trust deficit lies with Pakistan. He called on Islamabad to address New Delhi's concerns over cross-border terrorism.

In a statement, Abdullah emphasised the urgent need to end hostilities, highlighting the toll the ongoing conflict has taken on people along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir. He expressed support for the ceasefire, recognising its positive impact on the affected populations.

Congress leader Pawan Khera has called for a special session of Parliament and an all-party meeting to discuss the India-Pakistan ceasefire agreement.

" It is unprecedented that we get to know this from the American President... Therefore, the questions that India wants to ask can only be answered through a special session of Parliament. Therefore, Congress demands a special session of Parliament and all-party meeting...country deserves to know what it has achieved and what India has lost...the victims of Pahalgam would also like to know whether justice has been served to them or not," he told ANI.

US Vice President JD Vance tweets, "...My gratitude to the leaders of India and Pakistan for their hard work and willingness to engage in this ceasefire"

"The lesson Pakistan has received over the past 72 hours is one it will never forget. The hideouts of the terrorist organisations responsible for the brutal killing of innocent tourists in Pahalgam have been completely destroyed...Pakistan must not forget that if any terrorist activity is carried out in the future, they should be prepared to face consequences even more severe than this," said JD(U) leader Rajeev Ranjan Prasad to PTI.

"We never wanted this (referring to conflict); we had lost our innocent civilians. This (Pahalgam) attack aimed to spread terror (among people). I salute our armed forces for conducting 'Operation Sindoor'," says RJD MP Manoj Jha on understanding reached between India-Pakistan to halt all firing and military action.

"In light of the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, the earlier request for the voluntary closure of shops and other establishments is hereby withdrawn. All shops and establishments are now permitted to operate as usual", Chandigarh district administration wrote on X.

Aishanya Dwivedi, wife of Shubham Dwivedi who was killed in the Pahalgam terror attack, expressed gratitude towards Indian Army for the destroying of nine terrorist sites under Operation Sindoor after India-Paksitan Ceasefire announcement.

" I am very thankful...the way 9 terrorist sites were destroyed through Operation Sindoor. I have great trust in the Armed Forces and PM Modi...this fight is against terrorism...they started this fight to eliminate terrorism...till terrorism exists, Operation Sindoor will continue," said Dwivedi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, NSA Ajit Doval, the CDS, and the Chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, following the announcement of a ceasefire with Pakistan.

“Pakistan has always strived for peace and security in the region, without compromising on its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said in a post on X.

Following the announcement of an immediate ceasefire between India and Pakistan, authorities in Punjab lifted blackout and restrictive orders issued earlier, reported PTI.

Districts including Sangrur, Rupnagar, and Fazilka withdrew blackout orders, while Jalandhar, Kapurthala, and Patiala also cancelled restrictions. Officials confirmed that the planned blackout in Sangrur from 8 PM to 6 AM was officially called off, report said.

David Lammy, UK's Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs, welcomed today’s ceasefire between India and Pakistan, urging both parties to maintain the agreement, as de-escalation is in the interest of all.

"I'm very relieved. I think this is very good news. We were very concerned, I'm very, very happy after hearing this news, " says German Ambassador to India, Philipp Ackermann.

"With the new development of a ceasefire, the BCCI, IPL Governing Council, office bearers, and officials will meet tomorrow to discuss the situation. We will review the tournament schedule and determine the best possible way to complete it. All aspects, including venues, which were originally decided during the time of conflict will be reconsidered. A final decision will be taken shortly", BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla told PTI

India-Pakistan military de-escalation: Lights turned on at Amritsar's Golden Temple.

Missile remains and shell fragments were recovered from two Himachal Pradesh districts, officials said on Saturday and added three explosions were heard in the forest areas of Kangra district.

The recoveries came during a military standoff between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor. The two countries have since agreed to a ceasefire, with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announcing that the directors general of military operations of India and Pakistan had decided to stop all firings and military action on land, air and sea with effect from 5 pm on Saturday.

 Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday emphasised that the nation must come first, urging everyone in India to stand united and move forward.

He made these remarks during an inter-faith meeting convened by Governor S Abdul Nazeer at Raj Bhavan, especially in the context of 'Operation Sindoor' and the ceasefire between India and Pakistan.

“Nation first. We have to protect our country. Let any problem come to the country, every person living in Bharat should not only say that we all will be together but it is also the responsibility of all of us to walk forward together,” said Naidu.

Red streaks seen and explosions can be heard as India's air defence intercepts Pakistani drones amid blackout in Udhampur, ANI reported.

Pakistan has violated the bilateral understanding reached this afternoon to immediately stop all firings and military actions on land, air and sea, government sources said on Saturday night.

This came hours after India announced the understanding following four days of intense cross-border drone and missile strikes that brought the two countries teetering on the edge of full scale war.

As many as 43 students returned home in Odisha from Jammu following the India-Pakistan conflict, an official said.

These students were studying at the Central Sanskrit University in Jammu, and they were asked to vacate their hostels, he said.

The students were brought to Delhi from where they returned to Odisha on a train, he added.

The state government is working to bring back students from the state studying in Jammu and Kashmir, the official said.

On Pakistan violating the understanding to cease all firing and military action, Defence Expert Captain Anil Gaur (Retired) says, "This shows that Pakistan is a country that cannot be trusted at all. It shows that there are rogue elements in the Pakistani army. Now India has the right to retaliate...India should now retaliate and destroy Pakistan's military assets so that they realise who they are dealing with..."

China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Saturday said that his country would continue to stand by Pakistan in upholding its "sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national independence". Pakistan violating understanding reached on stopping firings: Foreign Secretary Misri.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri says, "An understanding was reached this evening between the DGMOs of India and Pakistan to stop the military action that was going on for the last few days. For the last few hours, this understanding is being violated by Pakistan. The Indian Army is retaliating and dealing with this border intrusion. This intrusion is extremely condemnable and Pakistan is responsible for it. We believe that Pakistan should understand this situation properly and take appropriate action immediately to stop this intrusion."

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri says, "The Armed Forces are maintaining a strong vigil on the situation and have been given instructions to deal strongly with any instances of repetition of the violations of the borders along the international border as well as the line of control".

Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan is holding video conference with Chief Secretaries of states having border with Pakistan; assesing the situation, said sources as quoted by PTI.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday issued directions to ensure robust emergency management systems and prevent panic during critical situations.

He emphasised proactive coordination, swift responses and public reassurance as key priorities.

Saini was presiding over a high-level review meeting via video conferencing with deputy commissioners (DCs), commissioners of police (CPs), superintendents of police (SPs) and administrative secretaries.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a phone conversation with Indian National Security Advisor Doval.

As per Chinese Foreign Ministry, "Doval said that the Pahalgam terrorist attack caused serious casualties among Indian personnel and that India needed to take counter-terrorism actions. War was not India's choice and was not in the interests of any party. India and Pakistan would be committed to a ceasefire and look forward to restoring regional peace and stability as soon as possible."

Indian Army's White Knight Corps tweets, "On noticing suspicious movement near the perimeter, alert sentry at Nagrota Military Station issued a challenge, leading to a brief exchange of fire with the suspect. Sentry sustained a minor injury. Search operations are underway to track the intruder(s)."

 In the wake of the recent drone attacks by Pakistan, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday held interaction with the civil society members here to discuss steps taken for public safety, state of preparedness and the importance of maintaining communal harmony during these critical times.

The chief minister during the interaction urged the public to remain calm and vigilant, appealing to the citizens not to panic and to rely solely on verified and official sources of information.

Stressing the importance of effective communication, he outlined a set of measures aimed at enhancing public awareness and strengthening the emergency response mechanism across the region.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif began his national address with a strong warning, declaring that Pakistan will take all necessary measures to defend its sovereignty if challenged, BBC reported.

Calling for an investigation, Sharif dismissed the allegations against Pakistan as "baseless."

Reflecting on recent events, he claimed the country has been targeted by drone strikes, which, according to him, have resulted in the destruction of mosques and the loss of innocent lives.

"An unjust war has been imposed on us," said Pak PM Shehbaz Sharif.

Congress Rajya Sabha member Digvijaya Singh on Saturday welcomed the understanding between India and Pakistan to stop all firings and military actions, and said the neighbouring country should desist from harbouring terrorists.

“The animosity between both countries has developed as Pakistan openly harbours terrorists. We appeal to the prime minister and the government of Pakistan to stop sheltering terrorists because if you do that, what has happened now will happen again,” Singh said.

Soldier injured in exchange of fire with suspect terrorist outside army camp in Jammu, according to PTI reports.

A senior Jammu and Kashmir government official and two security officers were among seven killed while more than 25 people were injured amid intense mortar shelling and drone strikes by Pakistan in the Jammu region on Saturday, officials said as quoted by PTI.

The casualties were reported hours before India and Pakistan agreed to end hostilities, which soared after the Indian Armed Forces hit terror launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) earlier this week in response to the Pahalgam attack.

The Prime Minister then shifts focus to express heartfelt gratitude to China, referring to the nation as a "very dear and trustworthy friend."

"I must acknowledge them," he said, adding, "I sincerely thank them from the bottom of my heart."

He extended his appreciation not just to the Chinese leadership but also to the people of China, noting their consistent support during Pakistan’s times of need.
