IT and international technology services companies on May 9 asked employees, mainly those working in the northern states of India, to work from home (WFH) amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. Companies have also urged workers to avoid domestic and international work-related travel, MoneyControl reported.

Accounting and consulting giant Deloitte India has asked its employees to postpone unnecessary domestic and international travel especially, as much uncertainty looms around air travel, with many Indian airlines advising the same.

The accounting major has also set up an all-India command centre hotline to provide support to employees.

“Professionals who are on assignment in border states that are affected have been advised to return to base location as soon as possible...Colleagues have also been asked to follow government guidelines on personal safety and staying alert,” sources told MoneyControl

Another accounting major, KPMG India, has urged its employees across offices in Gurgoan, Delhi, Noida and Jaipur to exercise caution.

Noida-headquartered HCLTech has also reportedly declared WFH for May 9 across all its offices in Gurugram, Noida and Chandigarh, especially in states where a red alert has been declared.

Tech Mahindra began navigating work-related changes a few days back. The company, in an advisory issued on May 7, had asked employees to remain calm and follow instructions given by the corporate services team while participating in the mock drill. Tech Mahindra also advised its workers to defer both domestic and international travel for the next two weeks. The company has reportedly asked its employees to refrain from posting anything related to India and Pakistan tensions on social media platforms.

“All non-essential travel (domestic and international) to be deferred for the next 2 weeks...Your safety is our top priority, and we assure you that we are closely monitoring the situation and taking all necessary steps to ensure your well-being,” said Tech Mahindra in the note, according to MoneyControl.
