Vedanta Group chairman and founder Anil Agarwal has given business mantras for young startup founders. In a social media post on X, the mining major’s boss mentioned that the early years of starting a company can be a lonesome journey and are a tough road to navigate. Agarwal highlighted that every decision a young startup founder takes can prove to be either an opportunity or a challenge for the company.

He said the journey can sometimes feel like walking in the dark, as those around the founder will not be able to understand the journey because they never ‘had to believe in something invisible.’

“Dear young founders, here’s something no one warns you about... The journey you’ve chosen? It gets lonely. The early years feel like living in a pressure cooker,” said Agarwal on X. “Every day, you make decisions that could move your dream forward or take it a step back. It feels like shouting into a void-like building in the dark,” he added.

He compared the journey of starting a company to climbing Mount Everest and said the higher you climb, the fewer people are there in the journey. But fewer people don’t mean that the climber is lost, it just means that you are on a “rare path”.

Reflecting on his early business struggle days, Agarwal mentioned his mother’s shawl used to be his comforter and reminded him of his home in India even from his “cold London flat”.

“Mount Everest ki chadhai pe bheed nahi hoti...the higher you climb, the fewer people you see. But that doesn’t mean you’re lost. It just means you’re on a rare path. Just remember: Safar bhale hi akela ho, raasta apna hona chahiye,” said Vedanta chairman.
