What is PM Internship Scheme 2025?
The PM Internship Scheme is an initiative by the government of India that is specifically designed to provide credible internship opportunities to young individuals, providing them industry exposure. The scheme offers 12‑month internships in the top 500 companies of India, facilitating youth aged between 21 and 24 from low‑income households.
These internships span 24 sectors, including oil, gas, energy, travel, hospitality, automotive, banking and financial services. Companies participating in this pilot were selected based on their corporate social responsibility (CSR) spending over the last three years, ensuring participants are placed with socially and ethically responsible organisations.
The aim of this initiative is to bridge the gap between academic learning and real‑world experience. Launched by the Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, the pilot phase targets 1.25 lakh youth, with a five‑year goal to facilitate internships for one crore young individuals.
As part of the PM Internship Scheme 2025, each selected intern will receive a monthly financial assistance of Rs 5,000. Additionally, there is a one‑time financial assistance of Rs 6,000 to support the interns. The initiative aims to offer young candidates a comprehensive exposure to various sectors and functional roles, helping them enhance their career prospects.
