TACC Limited, a key player in the advanced materials sector signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with National Council for Cement and Building Materials (NCB) on Wednesday, with an aim to develop sustainable, durable and high performance concrete using TACC’s Graphene based additives. The company specializes in synthetic graphite and graphene derivatives, primarily used in sectors like electronics and energy storage.
Graphene refers to a single layer of carbon atoms in a hexagonal lattice and is known for its exceptional strength, conductivity as well as lightweight properties, with applications in electronics, energy storage, coatings, composites, construction materials, and textiles.
“With TACC’s innovative graphene based additives and NCB’s expertise in concrete technology, this collaboration aims to integrate graphene’s exceptional properties into concrete to enhance strength, durability, and overall performance.” the company said in its media statement. The release further said that this partnership also plans to contribute to lowering carbon emissions, aligning with India’s vision for net-zero emissions and climate commitments.
On the other hand, the National Council for Cement and Building Materials (NCB) is a research body that comes under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry. It works in the space of technology development and transfer, continuing education and industrial services and is mainly centred on the cement and construction industries.
The latest collaboration between TCC and NCB also aims at driving advancements in next generation construction materials, paving the way for high-performance and sustainable infrastructure.
