As India is ramping up its energy storage capacity to fuel the country’s green energy growth, a leading recycler and refurbisher in the battery ecosystem launched a range of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) products using repurposed lithium-ion batteries at the Bharat Mobility Expo, 2025. The storage systems aim to provide solutions for EV charging infrastructure as well as backup solutions for hotels and hospitals.

With nearly 60 per cent lower operating costs and much longer lifespan than traditional storage systems, the LiGrid series launched by LICO Materials is expected to provide eco-friendly solutions while being committed to battery circularity. The products launched under this storage system lineup include giving powering solutions to residential buildings and cafes with the capacity of 18 kWh, storage solutions for offices and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure with the capacity of 100 kWh as well as giving backup solutions for large-scale operations like hotels and hospitals with a capacity of 300 kWh.

Talking about the launch, Gaurav Dolwani, CEO, LICO Materials says, “Our energy storage devices are made from second life cells. Our 18 kWh system is made from NMC cylindrical cells (i.e. lithium ion batteries made up of nickel, manganese and cobalt oxide) coming out of two wheelers and the 100 kWh system which is a much larger one is made with used modules and batteries from Morris Garages (MG) cars.”

He further says “These systems can be used not only for energy storage but can also be integrated into our charger from our partner brand Everta and can be used to charge another vehicle.”

These newly launched solutions can act as a crucial supporter for India’s renewable energy goals as well as at a time of increased EV adoption. Each of the products under the series can operate across extreme temperatures and are also compact in size which can facilitate its efficient usage.
