The magic ‘blue pill’ now has some, shall we say, intense competition. No, not the blissful capsule from Matrix, but the drug that has had scores of men up and running for a while now. A federal advisory panel in the US has given its tentative approval to flibanserin, a drug that supposedly treats the lack of sexual desire among women, somewhat the way Viagra does in men. The drug, which some say comes with a laundry list of side effects, had been rejected in the past and had come up for approval again. But hey, if at first you don’t succeed — um — try, try again?
