Mumbai may have a long way to go when it comes to cleaning its streets but Hammer & Mop is surely pitching in to clean Mumbai’s houses. Operating from a warehouse it provides one time or contractual cleaning services. “We started with individual homes but now we are making inroads into small offices, coffee shops and residential societies,” says Sushrut Munje, founder. The start-up manages to pull in about 20 new customers every month.
Depending on the size of the premises, a one-time office clean-up costs anywhere between Rs.3,000 to Rs.20,000, while a one-time house clean-up costs about Rs.4,000. As cleaning is an effort intensive task, a potential employee’s work ethic trumps educational qualification, adds Munje. He plans to increase his staff strength to 50 workers in the next six months and increase the number of service points to five through external funding.
