Union Budget Live: Economy's D-day is finally here. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is all set to present her first full-year budget under the Modi 3.0 regime on February 1. This will be her eighth consecutive budget in the parliament. The presentation of the Union Budget will start at 11 am sharp.

From major industry players to middle-class citizens, all are keenly awaiting this year's budget considering the complicated geopolitical sphere and subdued macros playing out in the background. Stock markets will remain open on February 1. While the D-street has witnessed a muted market sentiment since the start of 2025, the budget week saw the markets trading in green with optimism on a high level. Benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, were trading in the positive territory in the last week of January, just ahead of the budget.

This is largely because industry players across sectors are expecting some big announcements to play out in the upcoming budget. From an increased focus on the outlay for capital expenditure to being cautious about fiscal deficit.

What remains a top priority for the government is fiscal consolidation, as several aspects like, not-so-great earnings season, macros on a downward spiral, a declining rupee and the complex geopolitical picture continue to create a blurry outlook.
