Single CEOs make riskier decisions. Nikolai Roussanov and Pavel G Savor have found that single individuals take on more risk in order to attract a more desirable mate. So a single CEO running a firm will most likely take aggressive decisions and the company will have higher stock return volatility. Another facet of this research is the importance of status in financial decisions. The effect of status may play an essential role in CEO compensation and have an effect on corporate governance.
