Family support

Researchers study the contribution of extended families to working women

A married woman with young children finds it difficult to work in a regular job. But she can find a suitable job if she is supported by her mother or mother-in-law living in the vicinity. According to a study Janice Compton, Robert A Pollak of National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), the chances of such a woman working increases by 4 to 10 percentage points as compared to a woman who does not have help from her extended family.
