Nishant Pitti, founder and chairman of EaseMyTrip, cautioned travellers about potential national-security risks from certain travel platforms, highlighting that companies with significant Chinese ownership may be accessing Indian passport data.
In a post on X, Pitti urged Indian travellers to scrutinise the ownership of travel apps before booking. “Before booking your travel, ask— is the platform truly aligned with Bharat, or majority owned by foreign regimes hostile to us?” he wrote, tagging key government entities, including the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Pitti’s remarks echoed those of Rikant Pitti, CEO and co-founder of EaseMyTrip, who raised similar concerns about national-security risks posed by certain travel platforms. Rikant noted that EaseMyTrip was the only Indian online travel company to suspend bookings to the Maldives for over a year due to strained diplomatic relations.
“After the Pahalgam terror attack, while many remained silent, we were once again the first to issue a travel advisory against Turkey and Azerbaijan for their vocal support to Pakistan,” Rikant Pitti stated. “We urged Indian travellers to avoid non-essential travel to these nations.”
He emphasised that EaseMyTrip’s decisions prioritise the safety, values and sentiments of Indian travellers. “As a proud Indian company, our actions reflect our commitment to national interest and traveller well-being,” he said.
Pitti added: “We are heartened to see that many other travel platforms and companies are now taking similar stands. It’s a positive sign of collective responsibility in moments that matter most. For us, it’s not a slogan. It’s our principle. Nation first. Business later.”
Amid escalating India–Pakistan tensions, EaseMyTrip has advised Indian travellers to exercise extreme caution when visiting Turkey and Azerbaijan due to their support for Pakistan. Indian social-media users have also launched campaigns urging citizens to show patriotism by avoiding vacations in these countries.
