Since its launch in 2015, consumer electronics brand boAt Lifestyle has disrupted the space like no other by introducing premium products in the mid-range segment, thereby capturing nearly half of the market share. Its CEO, Vivek Gambhir, throws light on the five ways in which technology has redefined the hearables and wearables space.

Focus On Ease Of Use: The rise of wireless audio products offers a seamless experience, enabling consumers to go about their everyday activities while wearing their audio products without the hassle of entanglement in movement. The ever-growing technology has allowed consumers to now carry smaller earwear products without compromising on the sound quality, making audiowear more user-friendly as compared to its bulky older counterparts.

2. Focus On Health And Fitness: Since the pandemic hit, people have become more health-conscious. This has made space for wearables like smartwatches that have enabled consumers to track their health and fitness levels in the form of step counting, activity tracking, sleep and SpO2 tracking, among other things in real time.

3. Better Entertainment Experience: Sound algorithms like surround sound and spatial audio have made content consumption much more enjoyable. As technology keeps getting more refined, a lot of premium features are trickling down to the mid-segment products.

4. Increased Productivity: Wearables can give us the best of both worlds. They can aid our productivity and also keep a close watch over our health. Consumers can enjoy notifications on the go while being connected to multiple devices at the same time. With a major focus on AI and tech today, these smartwatches will continue to become smarter.

5. Rise Of A Connected Ecosystem: This technology is available in high-end devices already and has the potential to become mainstream soon. With the concept of smart homes gaining momentum among the youth, especially in metro cities, this has a huge potential in the wearable space.
