R Ashwin Announces Retirement After 14 Years of International Cricket Career; Know His Net Worth

Cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has sent shock waves to his fans as he bids adieu to international cricket from all formats. The 38-year-old bowler announced his retirement in a press conference on Wednesday, ending a nearly 14-year-long international cricket career. Speaking at the press meet after the Brisbane test match ended, Ashwin said he still has energy in him to play and is likely to utilise that in domestic matches. 

“This will be my last day as an Indian cricketer in all formats at the international level...I had a lot of fun,” said Ashwin in a press conference. “I do feel there is a bit of punch left in me as a cricketer, but I would like to expose that probably...showcase that in clubs that are in cricket...,” he added. 

Ashwin’s cricket journey kicked off after he gained recognition during his tenure with the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Consequently, he was selected to play for the national team.

Ravichandran Ashwin, with a 14-year-long international and even longer national cricket career, has not just gained a worldwide fanbase but has amassed huge wealth. According to the Sportskeeda website, Ashwin currently has a net worth of around Rs 132 crore. Major chunk of his income comes from the board of cricket control in India (BCCI) contract, which is nearly Rs 5 crore and IPL match fees. He has played IPL for nearly 15 years and accumulated wealth worth Rs 82 crore since his debut in 2008. 

Ashwin has been the face of many brands, including Myntra, Bombay Shaving Company, Moov and Dream Beyond cricket. Brand endorsements too contribute to his Rs 132 crore net worth.  

With decades long experience playing cricket, he believes in passing on the skills to the next generation. He mentors young players at Gen-Next Cricket Academy and adds to his source of income.
