The fact that data is the new oil is becoming increasingly clear across segments, and the automobile sector is no stranger to that. As cars become smarter and more connected, Ashish Gupta, brand director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, shares five ways in which IT-enabled in-car services will enhance driver experience

Enhanced Dashboard Experience

Dashboard displays will play a prominent role in interpreting everything. Augmented reality displays will make it look futuristic and show information like speed, navigation and fuel indicator while artificial intelligence-backed prompters will help avoid collisions.

Parking Made Easy

To address the parking issue, a feature called Park Assist steers automatically during parking, and the driver only needs to operate the accelerator and brakes. It enables the driver to easily manoeuvre the car into a parking space and helps in moving out of a tight spot.

Interactive Assistant

Advanced in-vehicle digital assistants enable drivers to play music, search and send text messages. This artificial intelligence-driven system also understands phrases from day-to-day life, thereby transforming the car into an interactive assistant.

Enhanced Communication

Manufacturers today provide the internet as a standard in-car amenity. This has enabled cars to communicate with each other, thereby transforming the overall driving experience. It assists drivers and prevents collision. However, the assistance function can only be used within the limits of the system.

Gesturing Safety

Drivers will soon be able to control multiple elements of the cars via gestures. This technology will make driving easier and safer while being a simple solution to avoid taking eyes off the road.
