Whitepod Eco-Luxury Hotel in the Swiss Alps offers a unique and sustainable Alpine experience for around Rs 72,000 to Rs 100,000 per night. There are 18 luxurious domes made using a self-supporting framework to minimise the use of building materials. While they offer services such as spa, they even organise several indoor and outdoor activities such as hiking, paragliding, skiing and wine tasting, depending on the season, and have a restaurant that serves healthy local cuisine.

Awarded the Green Globe Certification (GGC) after a sustainability audit in 2015, the luxury Jumeirah Vittaveli resort in the Maldives has taken numerous green steps in line with its corporate responsibility programme. The resort, which charges Rs 140,000 a room for one night, also has the ‘Eco Pure’ system which treats seawater to create fresh drinking water. In addition to that, it bottles its own water in recycled glass bottles, saving around 50,000 plastic bottles a year.

Campi ya Kanzi is a luxury eco-tourism lodge that has come up in partnership with the local Maasai community in Kenya. By choosing the place for your African safari, you will not only enjoy its unique, pristine wilderness and amazing wildlife but also actively help protect them while helping the community. Its tented suites and cottages that cost between Rs 61,000 and Rs 593,000 per night were made by local Maasai people from fallen trees. Visitors to the camp contribute a $101 conservation fee a day to support an organisation that pays locals to not kill the lions and leopards that threaten their livestock.

Describing itself as “planet-friendly and people-positive”, the Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort in Fiji looks at wildlife conservation and reforestation as its key focus areas. The signature Costa Rica experiences of this award-winning luxury hotel can be found in a complimentary menu of hotel-led activities like art sessions, cooking lessons, horseback riding and zip-lining included in a night package that costs between Rs 75,000 and Rs 210,000, a great value for those who want to fully embrace Costa Rica’s eco-adventures and culture. Also among many of its planet-friendly activities is an organic garden packed with coconut, pineapple, mango and guava among other things, all cared for using sustainable agricultural practices as their guests are also eager to learn about nature and its value. The hotel does not serve any farmed fish on its menus either.
