An HR professional-turned-entrepreneur, Isaac invested in Ikya in 2009, after selling off the first staffing company he founded, PeopleOne Consulting, to Adecco in 2004 and managing it till 2007. At Ikya, though, Isaac has been pursuing a vision that is not restricted to staffing but goes much beyond into outsourcing of services. Essentially, the firm focuses on providing as much of the non-core activities of its customers as possible, which ranges from temp staffing to facilities management, payroll, compliance and records management, food services and so on. It has about 1,000 clients, ranging from Godrej to HUL to ITC, Infosys to Microsoft. And in every segment it operates, Ikya is either among the top two players by value or by growth rate. Much as one may think that many of these business segments operate in a commoditised segment, Ikya’s competitive advantage is that it’s the only business services aggregator in India with deep delivery expertise. While its strong processes contribute to greater efficiency, by continuously building scale, the company is able to offer lower costs and that keeps clients coming back. “That’s what allows us to charge a premium over our competitors,” says Isaac.
