Flipkart Sees Senior Leadership Exit, SVP Ankit Jain Moves to Swiggy Instamart

As many as four senior executives have exited Walmart-owned Flipkart in the past few days. These resignations came from a senior vice president (SVP), and three vice presidents, according to a report published by MoneyControl.

Of these, Ankit Jain who was SVP, head of grocery and large supply chain at Flipkart, is joining quick commerce giant Swiggy Instamart, the report said. Jain will work closely with Swiggy Instamart CEO Amitesh Jha, who was his colleague at Flipkart till August 2024.

Other executives who are moving out are: Prajakta Kanaglekar, VP, human resources (HR) (technology); Anurag Singhvi, VP, head of analytics; and Ganesh Ramaswamy, VP (Flipkart) and chief product and technology officer (CPTO), Cleartrip, it added. There is no immediate information on where these VPs are moving.

Flipkart’s Talent Shift Trend

In the past few months, Swiggy has hired several top executives from Flipkart, including Hari Kumar G (former Flipkart VP, now Swiggy SVP and CBO for its Instamart segment), Amitesh Jha (former Flipkart SVP, now Swiggy Instamart CEO), and Shalabh Shrivastava (former Flipkart VP, now SVP of Driver Org at Swiggy).

Another recent example is Flipkart’s Vipin Kapooria. The former vice-president of Flipkart's business finance has joined Zomato-owned Blinkit as its chief financial officer (CFO). Kapooria has worked with Flipkart for more than seven years.

Not Only Flipkart, Amazon Too

Flipkart was not the only e-commerce giant whose talent shifted to quick commerce platforms. Swiggy has also gone after Amazon employees at a time when it was expanding and moving beyond grocery and other essential items.

It has roped in Sairam Krishnamurthy from More Retail, a joint venture between Amazon and Samara Capital. Krishnamurthy is now SVP and COO of Swiggy Instamart. The list doesn’t end here! Other appointments include Anirban Roy who headed the performance marketing team at Amazon, is now serving as its vice president.
