Planned talks between the United States and Iran aimed at ending the ongoing West Asia conflict will no longer take place on Friday after Switzerland confirmed the scheduled meeting had been called off.
The talks were expected to be held at Burgenstock, Switzerland, but US Vice President JD Vance has also dropped plans to travel, adding fresh uncertainty around negotiations.
A White House spokesperson said the logistics of the talks had “never been simple or predictable.” The development comes despite Iran earlier saying it was ready for technical discussions after a 14-point agreement extended the fragile ceasefire by at least 60 days.
