Tata Electronics Appoints KC Ang as President to Lead Semiconductor Manufacturing

Tata Electronics has named KC Ang as the President and Head of its foundry business, Tata Semiconductor Manufacturing Private Limited. A seasoned semiconductor industry leader, Ang will oversee the company’s AI-driven chip manufacturing operations and its global expansion strategy. 

It is understood that he will be reporting to Dr. Randhir Thakur, CEO & MD of Tata Electronics.

Before joining Tata Electronics, he served as President (Asia) and Chairman (China) at Global Foundries for more than 15 years. Over his career, he has worked extensively across Malaysia, Germany, the U.S., and China.

Welcoming Ang to the company, Dr. Thakur said, “KC’s deep industry knowledge will be invaluable as we progress towards launching operations at our Dholera Fab. He will play a crucial role in leading manufacturing and strengthening partnerships with customers and ecosystem players.”

Ang expressed enthusiasm about his new role, stating, “India’s semiconductor industry is on the brink of significant global impact. I look forward to contributing to Tata Semiconductor Manufacturing’s growth and leadership in chip manufacturing.”

Although, his appointment comes at a crucial time for Tata Electronics, as the company strengthens its presence in India’s semiconductor industry. The firm has been actively investing in building a talent pipeline to power its long-term vision. Utpal Shah, Senior Vice President at Tata Electronics, recently highlighted the company’s commitment to talent development, stating that Tata Electronics is focused on training and upskilling engineers to support India’s growing semiconductor ecosystem. 

With India positioning itself as a global semiconductor hub, Tata Electronics has been expanding its capabilities to support domestic and international demand. The upcoming Dholera Fab is expected to play a pivotal role in this transformation, aligning with the government’s semiconductor mission to enhance chip manufacturing capabilities in the country.
