Infosys, TCS Among Top Firms Hiring H-1B Visa Holders in 2025; Check Full List

Indian IT services giants Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and Cognizant Technology are among the top 10 employers that have received approval for H-1B visas. The final day for the initial registration period for the highly sought-after visa among Indian IT professionals is today, March 24. 

For Fiscal Year 2026, the H-1B visa application process kicked off with employers creating registrant accounts in February. Registration for the H-1B visa was open from March 7 to 24, 2025. Selected registrants will be notified by March 31, 2025, and can file petitions starting April 1, 2025. 

According to data from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Indian companies dominated the H-1B visa approvals list in 2024, with Infosys leading at 8,140 approvals. TCS secured the second spot with 5,274 approvals, followed by HCL America (2,953), Wipro (1,634), and Tech Mahindra (1,199). 

Overall, Amazon received the highest number of approvals, with 9,265 approved applications. US-based tech giants also dominated the list, with Google securing 5,364 approvals, followed by Meta (4,844), Microsoft (4,725), and Apple (3,873). Other major companies included IBM Corporation (2,906), Walmart Associates (2,904), and Capgemini America (2,795), along with several other prominent firms like Intel, Deloitte, Tesla, Accenture, and Amazon Web Services. 

The US issues 85,000 H-1B visas annually, with 65,000 available for general applicants and an additional 20,000 for those holding advanced degrees from American universities. These visas are reserved for specialised roles requiring a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and are commonly granted to professionals in fields such as technology, engineering, healthcare, academia, finance, media, and law. 

H-1B Visa Holders Worried Over New Rules

Under the new Trump administration, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has implemented a regulation aimed at "modernising" the H-1B program, which took effect on January 17, 2025. This rule is intended to streamline the approval process, enhance flexibility for employers to retain skilled workers, and improve program oversight.

However, the administration has also introduced measures that increase scrutiny of visa holders. Executive orders have expanded the authority of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to conduct workplace site visits, particularly targeting third-party placements, to ensure compliance and prevent abuse of the H-1B program.
