Indian Military Targets Three Air Bases in Pakistan After Cross-Border Attacks

India’s retaliatory strikes targeted three key Pakistani airbases, the Nur Khan Air Base, the Murid Air Base in Chakwal, and the Rafiqui Air Base in the Jhang district of Punjab province

From J-K to Gujarat, Pak's Fresh Drone Attack Targets 26 Locations

The India military reportedly launched missiles targeting three Pakistani air bases on early Saturday in response to Pakistan’s attacks on 26 locations across LoC overnight. The attacks on these three air bases have prompted Pakistan to shut the country’s airspace to all civilian and commercial traffic.

According to the Pakistani military, the three key airbases that were struck by India’s retaliatory operation included the Nur Khan Air Base, the Murid Air Base in Chakwal, and the Rafiqui Air Base in Jhang district of Punjab province.

The Nur Khan Air Base, located near Islamabad, primarily serves as a logistical and refuelling hub for the Pakistan Air Force. In contrast, PAF Base Rafiqui in Shorkot is one of the country’s main fighter airbases, home to a fleet that includes Chinese-made JF-17 fighter jets, French-origin Mirage 5 aircraft, and Alouette III helicopters.

The Murid Air Base is Pakistan’s primary facility for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), with operations focused on drone warfare and aerial reconnaissance. The base operates a variety of drones including the indigenous Shahpar I for surveillance, the NESCOM Burraq for armed missions, and the Turkish-made Bayraktar drone, a platform that has seen extensive deployment in global conflicts, including the war in Ukraine. More recently, Murid has added the Turkish Akinci-L to its arsenal, a high-altitude, long-endurance combat UAV designed for strategic operations.

Meanwhile, the BSF also destroyed terrorist launchpad at Looni in Pakistan's Sialkot in response to unprovoked firing by other side, PTI reported.

The development follows a night of heightened drone activity along India’s northern and western borders, as Pakistan launched a coordinated series of drone strikes targeting military infrastructure at 26 locations stretching from Leh in the north to Sir Creek in the south. The targets included key airfields, forward military outposts, and civil aviation sites. Indian forces successfully thwarted the majority of these attacks.
