Nitin Gadkari urged the auto industry to offer additional discounts to customers submitting scrappage certificates while buying new vehicles.
He has requested the Prime Minister and Finance Minister to provide GST relief on new vehicle purchases after scrapping old ones.
Gadkari called the scrappage policy a "win-win" for industry and government, ensuring scrap metal availability, boosting GST revenue, and reducing pollution.
Currently, about 16,830 vehicles are scrapped monthly, with private sector investment of ₹2,700 crore.
