Musk Slams Trump’s ‘Big, Beautiful’ Tax Bill; Is All Not Well Between Tesla Boss & POTUS?

The White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissed billionaire Elon Musk’s claim that the bill would negatively impact the federal deficit

Billionaire Elon Musk criticised US President Donald Trump’s signature tax and spending bill on Tuesday. Musk, in a series of posts on his social media platform X, called the bill a “disgusting abomination” that will severely impact the federal budget deficit. He has also asked Americans to step up against those politicians who’ve betrayed them. The development comes just days after Elon Musk’s resignation as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

“I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it,” said Elon Musk on X. “In November next year, we fire all politicians who betrayed the American people,” the Tesla boss added.

Trump’s bill would extend tax cuts started during his first term and add more funds to his administration’s priority areas, including $46.5 billion for the construction of barriers at the US border with Mexico.

The Tesla boss had promised to cut “at least $2 trillion” on an annual basis from the US federal government budget in October 2024 but later revised his target to $1 trillion. According to the official DOGE website, the federal government has saved $180 billion as of June 4.

White House Fires Back

The White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissed billionaire Elon Musk’s claim that the bill would negatively impact the federal deficit.

“The president already knows where Elon Musk stood on this bill. It doesn’t change the president’s opinion. This is big, beautiful bill, and he’s sticking to it,” said the White House Press Secretary.

These developments have also sparked suspicion that all is not well between billionaire Musk and President Trump. Both shared a sour relationship during Trump’s first term, but Musk’s support during the presidential election last year and Trump’s endorsement of the Tesla boss as the head of his newly created DOGE signaled significant improvement in their bond at the beginning of the second term.
