Your focus is largely [Business-to-Business] B2B. Are there any plans to enter the [Business-to-Consumer] B2C space, especially with products like cameras? What’s the growth strategy for that segment?
In terms of B2C products, while Synology is expanding significantly in the B2B space, we haven’t overlooked the B2C market and we will continue developing and releasing new products for consumers.
If you're not already aware, we actually have a product line called the B-series, which is designed specifically for users without a technical background to easily enjoy NAS (Network-Attached Storage) products. In today’s world, everyone has a lot of personal data—whether it’s photos, selfies or other files from their phones. People need a reliable place to store and back up this data. For those without technical expertise, understanding how NAS works can be a bit challenging. But with the B-series, it’s a simple plug-and-play experience. After a few quick setup steps, users can back up their phone, computer and other data to a single unit, essentially creating their own personal cloud.
Another important aspect is privacy. As you mentioned, data privacy laws vary across countries and people need to feel secure about where their data is stored. This is where Synology’s on-premises solutions shine, especially for our B2B customers. By using our products, users retain full control and ownership of their data—there’s no need to worry about storing it on third-party servers. With Synology, you own your data completely.

Given the data regulations in countries like India and Germany, where data must remain within national borders, do you offer country-specific cloud solutions and how do you navigate these restrictions?
As I mentioned earlier, the majority of our products are on-premises, meaning they are stored on the customer's own assets. Customers don’t need to worry about Synology accessing or monitoring their data, as we don’t have access to it. Everything remains private, with the data securely stored on the device itself.
It’s simply not possible for us to use your data elsewhere because we don't have the ability to access it in the first place. For us, it’s crucial to ensure that our customers store their data on Synology products with the confidence that their privacy is protected. Security is always our top priority and it’s central to how we design and promote our products. We want our customers to trust us as a brand when it comes to safeguarding their data on Synology NAS devices.

How is Synology addressing the growing demand for hybrid cloud environments? What about Synology’s C2 platform and how does it complement on-premises storage?
I believe that in the coming years, businesses will increasingly adopt a hybrid approach, rather than strictly choosing between on-prem or public cloud solutions. The hybrid model will undoubtedly become a major trend.
Synology C2, on the other hand, is a cloud service fully tailored for Synology NAS users, designed to work seamlessly with our products. One of the key services offered is Synology C2 Storage. For users who have our NAS devices, C2 Storage allows them to archive their data to the cloud, reducing the burden on their local storage. This is particularly helpful for organisations looking to free up space or manage storage budgets effectively.
Additionally, C2 Storage provides a reliable off-site backup solution for disaster recovery purposes. For users who may not have the budget or physical space to set up a second location, Synology C2 Storage serves as an off-site destination to store a copy of their data, ensuring they have a backup in case of emergencies.
With the increasing concerns around data breaches and legal regulations, this off-site storage solution provides both security and compliance, addressing some of the most pressing issues organisations face today.

India has faced significant data breaches in recent years. How is Synology strengthening data protection in high-risk markets?
At Synology, security is a top priority, to the extent that we have our own dedicated security team called the PSIRT(Synology Product Security Incident Response Team). This team monitors our services and products, staying updated on the latest security trends and vulnerabilities 24/7.
We don’t just rely on our own analyses; the PSIRT collaborates with global security groups to exchange information, ensuring we stay ahead of emerging threats. This helps us design products that are not only reliable but also highly secure. Additionally, we work closely with white-hat hackers and offer a bounty to encourage third-party security experts to collaborate with us. This partnership further strengthens the security of our products.
