Reliance Infrastructure has announced to sell its Satara Toll Road project for ₹ 2,000 crore.
The transaction is likely to be completed in a month’s time, provided it receives regulatory nod.
Anil Ambani-led Reliance Infrastructure has proposed to sell a 100% stake in its Pune Satara Toll Road (PSTRPL) project to Singapore-based firm Cube Highways and Infrastructure III Pte Ltd. The enterprise value for the PS Toll Road transaction is estimated at ₹2,000 crore. The infra company, in a statement on August 22, said the move aims to monetise its non-core assets and ensure sustainable financial flexibility, the Economic Times reported.
“The transaction represents a significant milestone in Reliance Infrastructure’s ongoing strategy to monetise non-core assets, enhance financial flexibility, and focus on long-term value creation,” the company said in the statement.
The deal is likely to be sealed by the end of this month, provided the transaction gets the required regulatory approvals.
The company, reportedly, is expected to realise equity proceeds of ₹600 crore. The Anil Ambani-led firm has planned to strategically invest the funds towards future growth initiatives in core ventures. Additionally, proceeds worth ₹1,400 crore from the deal are likely to be used towards paying off debt with an aim to strengthen the company’s balance sheet.
PSTRPL was incorporated in 2010 as a special-purpose vehicle completely held by Reliance Infrastructure. It mainly focused on widening the Pune-Satara stretch from four lanes to six on design, build, finance, operate and transfer basis under NHDP (National Highways Development Project) phase V in Maharashtra. The project achieved provisional completion on April 30, 2022, and is in the process of receiving full completion.
This won’t be the first such transaction between Reliance Infrastructure and a Singapore-based company. Earlier in 2020, the Anil Ambani-led company sold its Delhi-Agra Toll Road assets to Cube Highways for ₹3,600 crore.
Reliance Infrastructure currently operates a diversified portfolio of 7 toll road assets, spanning a total length of approximately 2,468 lane km across key high-traffic corridors in India. These projects are strategically located to support regional connectivity, facilitate freight and passenger movement, and contribute to the country's core infrastructure development under the public-private partnership model.
