NTPC Green Energy’s Renewable Arm Gets 500 MW SECI Deal At ₹6 Per kWh

NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd (NTPC REL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Ltd, has secured 500 MW of contracted capacity in the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) 6,000 MWh assured peak power tender.

The company secured the capacity at a discovered tariff of ₹6 per kWh in the e-reverse auction conducted by SECI. The auction was concluded on August 21, 2026, according to the company’s exchange filing.

The tender, identified as SECI-FDRE-IX, is for the selection of renewable energy power developers for assured peak supply of 6,000 MWh, comprising 1,500 MW for four hours, from inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected renewable energy projects in India. The tender is being conducted through tariff-based competitive bidding.

NTPC Green Energy Approves New Renewable Energy SPV

Separately, the board of NTPC Green Energy has approved the incorporation of a wholly owned subsidiary or special purpose vehicle (SPV) for the development of renewable energy projects.

According to the company, the SPV will facilitate subsequent stake dilution for captive or group-captive structures for commercial and industrial sector customers. The move will be subject to the necessary approvals.

The board has also given in-principle approval for an investment of up to ₹28.78 lakh in AP NGEL Harit Amrit Ltd, a 50:50 joint venture between NTPC Green Energy and the New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh.

NTPC Green Energy To Raise Stake In AP NGEL Harit Amrit

The proposed investment will increase NTPC Green Energy’s holding in AP NGEL Harit Amrit to 51% from 50%.

Following the increase, AP NGEL Harit Amrit will become a subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy, subject to applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

NTPC Green Energy also reported a 38.3% year-on-year (YoY) rise in net profit for the June quarter. Revenue from operations rose 62.7% YoY to ₹1,106.9 crore, while EBITDA increased 63.8% to ₹988.7 crore.
