Tamil Nadu assembly elections are set for a three-way contest between the ruling DMK, the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and TVK led by actor Vijay, which is debuting in the polls. The voting will be held on April 23 and counting on May 4.
TVK chief Vijay Chandrasekhar has emerged as the richest candidate with declared assets exceeding ₹603.20 crore. He is contesting from Perambur and Trichy East and holds bank deposits worth over ₹213 crore along with luxury cars including BMW 530, Toyota Lexus, Toyota Vellfire and BMW i7.
According to reports, TVK leader Aadhav Arjuna, contesting from Villivakkam, has declared total assets worth ₹197.52 crore in his affidavit. He reported movable assets of ₹180.03 crore in his name along with assets worth ₹162.14 crore declared under his wife Daisy Arjuna’s name.
DMK leader and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin has declared assets of over ₹20.64 crore. This figure is nearly three times higher than the declared assets of his father and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, according to affidavit disclosures.
Meanwhile, Election Commission of India (ECI) data shows several independent candidates in Tamil Nadu among the poorest contestants. Many have declared assets as low as ₹1,000 or even less during the initial affidavit filings.
SDPI candidate Mohamed Mubarak, contesting from Ambur constituency, has been listed among the poorest candidates. As per Election Commission affidavit data, he has declared total assets worth ₹6 lakh in the available records.
Tamil Nadu election affidavits highlight a sharp wealth gap among candidates. Vijay leads with over ₹603.20 crore, followed by Aadhav Arjuna and Udhayanidhi Stalin, while several independents and SDPI’s Mohamed Mubarak remain in the lower asset bracket.
