Lalu Prasad Yadav, former Bihar Chief Minister and a major political figure, and his family have long been in the spotlight over their finances. From election affidavits to alleged benami properties, their assets have drawn intense media and investigative scrutiny.
Tejashwi Yadav, the younger son of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister, has declared ₹6.12 crore in his own name, according to public declarations and MyNeta data (as of 2025), as cited by Times Now. His wife and child have ₹1.89 crore, totalling ₹8.01 crore.
Tej Pratap Yadav, Lalu Prasad Yadav’s elder son, has declared total assets of about ₹2.88 crore (around $345,000 USD).
Lalu Prasad Yadav’s last official affidavit, from 2009, showed assets worth ₹3.20 crore. Over the years, his political career has sparked debate over the difference between declared and alleged hidden wealth.
Rabri Devi, 65, wife of Lalu Prasad Yadav, is the richest in the family with assets worth ₹17.92 crore. As per GoodReturns, she also carries liabilities of ₹4.62 crore.
Together, Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family have officially declared around ₹12.2 crore (≈$1.46 million USD). This is considered modest compared to figures mentioned in media reports and enforcement estimates.
Several Lalu Prasad Yadav family assets are under ED and CBI investigation in the “Land-for-Jobs” scam, where prime land was allegedly taken from railway job seekers. Lalu denies wrongdoing, but authorities say some properties hide true ownership.
By mid-2025, Tej Pratap Yadav distanced himself from Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leadership, openly criticising his brother Tejashwi for “turning the party into a corporate office” and hinting at a new political front focused on youth and values.
This division has complicated the Yadav family’s assets. Several properties are under joint ownership or legal freeze, making inheritance and control more challenging amid the ongoing political and legal battles.
