Ujjwala Scheme Beneficiaries Affected
Now Ujjwala beneficiaries will pay Rs 553 for a 14.2-kg LPG cylinder up from Rs 503. The Rs 50 increase is due to global price pressures and aims to maintain supply and demand balance.
Reasons Behind the Price Hike
The recent price hike is due to the rise in global gas prices, which have gone up from $415 to $712 per metric tonne.

Government’s on Excise Duty
To manage rising costs, the government has increased excise duties on petrol and diesel by Rs 2 per litre. However, retail prices will remain unchanged to shield consumers from the impact.
