Whatever be the reason — a guilty conscience or a sense of obligation -—India’s ultra rich are seeing merit in the act of giving away. Over 66% respondents, as per the Kotak report, believe in philanthropy. While their spending pattern seems varied, when it comes to giving away, the rich are specific about the causes that they want to fund. While education remains the top favoured category, general healthcare and needs of the elderly, too, top the philanthropic pursuits of the rich. And within the education space, its differently-abled children who are getting all the attention.
