Mercedes-Benz is undoubtedly synonymous with luxury in India. Living up to its tag, the German car maker for the third consecutive year retained its top rank as the country’s largest-selling luxury car brand by clocking a record sale of 15,330 units in 2017. Riding high on its success, the Daimler subsidiary has launched its flagship Maybach S650 at the recently held Auto Expo in New Delhi. The two versions of Maybach — S550 and S650 — will hit the road this year with expected showroom prices ranging from Rs.1.94 crore to Rs.2.73 crore, the costliest model to be launched by Mercedes-Benz thus far. Keeping in sync with the push towards electric vehicles, the company also showcased its Concept EQ model besides unveiling the E-Class All-Terrain Estate. This is the first time that Mercedes-Benz will be introducing an estate wagon, launched globally a year back, in the Indian market. Whether the new models will help the carmaker end the current year on yet another high remains to be seen.
