Big Idea

Correct diagnosis

MyLabYogi collects test samples from customers’ home or office and delivers them to a lab of their choice

How often do we skip a routine check-up for cholesterol or diabetes because getting to a lab on a Sunday morning feels like a lousy idea? Mumbai-based MyLabYogi wants to change all that. “The intention is to simplify diagnostics for customers,” says Novella Lawrence, COO and co-founder. The site has tied up with seven diagnostic centres, and allows customers to book tests online for a flat fee of ₹75. Additionally, MyLabYogi also earns channel commission from lab partners. For now, the start-up offers 160 routine tests, but it plans to enable 500 tests in the next three months.

So, how does it work? A team of technicians equipped with temperature-controlled transport kits collect samples from customers’ home or office and delivers them to a lab of their choice. Results are dispatched via email or courier. Currently, MyLabYogi has 12 employees, incurs overheads of ₹1.2 lakh a month and hopes to break even in a few months. The company is in talks with angel investors to expand its coverage across the city and increase head count. It also plans to cover Pune, Bengaluru, Delhi, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad. Ultimately, Lawrence wants to position MyLabYogi as the MakeMyTrip of diagnostics. “Customers can compare rates across labs and pick up the cheapest deal,” she says.
