Chetan Singh worked as an interior designer for 10 long years in the northern city of Gurugram before he identified the obstacle to an efficient project pipeline. “I was always wondering when my next project would come by. To add to that, a lot of time was spent going back and forth with vendors, selecting products and putting them together,” he laments. Conversations with peers in the industry led him to the conclusion that he wasn’t the only one facing an uncertain workflow.

He followed up this discovery with three years of research and three months of trial and error. Post which he launched a Pinterest-like portal for the architecture industry in January this year. iSticker, which works on a cloud-based platform, provides stickers [product tags] for four offerings — products, designs, service and knowledge. “If the member is a chair manufacturer and he has 30 models of the product, then he can create iStickers for each model. Each chair will have its own identity as an iSticker that includes the image, price and other details about the product,” explains Singh. Architects and designers can simply pin these stickers on a sketch and a corresponding chart instantly calculates the project cost.

When a particular element is pinned onto the design, the respective manufacturer or dealer will receive a client lead. “Industry professionals can join the portal just the way they sign up on LinkedIn or Facebook. But we verify the accounts to ensure they are genuine,” he adds. The website seeks to connect all stakeholders, simplify and accelerate the process of ideation, design and discovery. The site hosts 3,500 subscribers from across Europe, West Asia, South East Asia and Australia who have posted 25,000 iStickers so far. The start-up pockets a fee for a client lead depending on the type of seller — Rs.160 for architects and Rs.645 for manufacturers. It also offers an annual subscription featuring unlimited leads priced at around Rs.100,000. Currently a B2B platform, the enterprise plans to switch to a consumer model by the end of this year.
