Regally Married

Couples have raised the bar on destination weddings, spending upto ₹70 million, ably planned by Regal Weddings, L’Amore and 3Production Weddings

The warm beaches of Goa or the golden mornings of Milan? Choose your dream destination and these wedding planners will transport your big day there. They will ensure that all the shiny, sparkly wheels turn in sync for that lavish party you want to throw. Regal Weddings, L’Amore and 3Productions are three such well-established names in this space.

The first one the list is Regal Weddings, started in 2002, which organises weddings mostly in Kerala, Goa and Rajasthan. Ankit Bhargava, chief wedding planner at Regal Weddings, says, “Destination Weddings unlike traditional weddings tend to have a smaller gathering, so it is important to understand the math of average money spent per guest. The premium weddings we organise can cost Rs.100,000 to Rs.500,000 per person. So if there are 150 guests attending, the total could be anywhere from Rs.10.5 million to Rs.75 million depending on the destination, hotel or resort and scale of arrangements related to decor and set-up, entertainment and devices.”

Destination weddings usually last for three days. The first day goes in arrivals and the welcome dinner or cocktail party. The second day, is for mehendi and sangeet and, the final and most awaited day is the wedding and reception dinner. Bhargava adds that depending on the duration of the weddings, the planners also organise activities around the function.

If you are in search of an exotic locale for your wedding, L’Amore Weddings is the one to go to. “All our destinations have been carefully picked, tried and tested. Be it a royal wedding in Rajasthan, a beach wedding in Goa or an exotic one outside India, we perfect all the details, from the venue to the menu,” says, founder of L’Amore, Gunjan Bansal. Their destination-wedding package includes the right location, accommodation, airfare, guest management, vendor selection and complete coordination. They charge upto Rs.70 million.

Bansal’s company, started in the USA in 2011, is comfortable handling international functions. Couples, they find, love Italy and more recently there are seeing a growing interest in Bangkok. One of the recent ones organised by them was in the Mediterranean country, for an NRI couple settled in the US. As part of it, L’Amore set up a fair along an entire lane outside the hotel where the guests were staying. They were invited to shop for the wedding and buy gifts for their loved ones. “Most of our customers are Indians, who are now settled outside the country usually in Europe. (But) our ideation is not towards an Indian wedding at a foreign location. But, to plan a wedding that is different from the others,” she says.

The luxury is in the details and that is where 3Production Weddings from the Garden City leaves its mark. Apart from managing the regular dos, the planners also make the wedding special by giving away customised welcome and thank-you baskets on the day of the wedding and towards the close of it. These may include the bride and groom’s favourite brand of chocolate and monogrammed stationary. These smaller details try to reflect the individuals that make the loving couple, by having one-on-one consultations with them before planning the event. The last wedding organised by 3Productions was in Mahabalipuram, where the couple was particular that guests be served exotic chocolates.

Sowmya Raghavan, co-founder of 3Production Weddings, says, “We have wide experience of organising charming weddings at many international locations as well as in India.” From planning the menu to guest management and cinematography, 3Production takes care of everything.
