Mile-high service

Jetsetgo makes the private flying experience economical

As you confess your love to your beloved, the heavens will shower you with petals. Well, if not the heavens, then this marketplace for private jets and helicopters vows to make this happen. Delhi-based JetSetGo, which started its operations in 2014, primarily caters to two types of travellers — business and leisure, both in the domestic and international market.

“For bachelor parties, we try to ensure that the guests have the best experience in the skies instead of staid hotel banquet halls or rooms. At the wedding, you might find a helicopter — decorated along the same lines as the wedding theme — that is ready to take guests on a joyride or even drop flowers from the sky,” says Kanika Tekriwal, co-founder, JetSetGo. “We have added honeymoon packages to our services and also provide a complete set-up for a date in the sky. All these services have a very high ticket size,” adds Tekriwal.

The company was recently funded by Yuvraj Singh’s YouWeCan Ventures and is in the midst of closing its series A investments. It caters to clients such as high-profile individuals, senior-level employees, celebrities and politicians, which form not more than 0.5% of the total customer base in India. “JetSetGo’s focus customer base is restricted to 117,000 Indians. For these individuals, we will turn the world around to deliver what they want,” says Tekriwal.

Private jets and helicopters can also be purchased and sold through the company on a commission basis. It also provides various luxury holiday packages and allows its customers access to different properties across the world. For older customers, JetSetGo provides the option of religious pilgrimages by helicopters. Also, services such as air ambulances are always ready to evacuate any customer from different locations. “Many customers might not trust the medical facilities in tier 2 and tier 3 cities. Thus, in case of a medical emergency, we drop them to their desired location. The air ambulance has all the medical facilities that might be needed at that time,” adds Terkriwal. JetSetGo’s online platform provides users the choice, transparency and flexibility to book a private jet on both the web and through an app.

For business travellers, the service begins with helping them choose the right aircraft as per their flying schedule and the number of travellers. For weddings or leisure travel, the range of services are far more elaborate. JetSetGo also provides destination weddings and can carry around 160 passengers on its customised aircraft. “In a way, the entire wedding starts on the aircraft,” she says.

While domestic travel ranges between ₹3 lakh and ₹19 lakh, overseas travel ranges between ₹3 lakh and ₹1.3 crore. Its premium aircraft include Falcon 2000, Gulfstream 200 and Citation XL. “A Delhi-London-Delhi trip will easily cost around ₹1.4 crore, and for customised services, the starting price is #10 lakh,” explains Tekriwal.

The company’s private jets include a single-engine turbo jet, dual-engine turbo jet, a mid-size jet, a heavy-size jet and long-range jets. The helicopters, on the other hand, are both single-engine and dual-engine. While flights to popular destinations such as Delhi and Mumbai are usually booked, Tekriwal claims that a lot of bookings are made for places such as Pantnagar, Mysuru and Karnal. “Around 40% of the bookings are for places that aren’t being serviced by commercial airlines,” she says.

With a limited presence in Dubai, London and New York, JetSetGo, for now, is making the most of high-end luxury travel within the country.
