Modi said, “We have had close cooperation with the US in the field of space. The "NISAR" satellite, built in collaboration with "ISRO" and "NASA", will soon fly into space on the Indian launch vehicle.”

The NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) mission was formally started in 2014 as a joint collaboration between NASA (USA) and ISRO (India).

Before NISAR, NASA and ISRO collaborated on other projects, such as Megha-Tropiques (2011), a climate research satellite developed by ISRO and CNES, with NASA's participation. It was designed to study tropical weather patterns and monsoons, providing valuable data on climate dynamics and atmospheric processes.

OCEANSAT-2 (2009) is ISRO’s ocean observation satellite, which has a scatterometer used by NASA for global climate research.

The NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) mission focuses on earth observation and climate monitoring using advanced radar technology.

ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) is one of the leading space agencies in the world, known for its cost-effective and innovative space missions.

Aspiration to innovate cutting-edge space technology and utilise it for the human good are the common factors between the two countries.

“The twenty-first century is a technology-driven century. Close cooperation in the technology sector between countries that believe in democratic values can give new direction, strength and opportunities to the entire humanity,” added Modi.
